How to become a member of the WMSA Squad!

How to become a member of the WMSA Squad!

All participants must be resident in the region or registered with one of the region's clubs.

There are two ways to become a member of the Regional Squad: either current ESC seed points of 250 or better OR by the racer's ski coach bringing the racer to feeder/main squad training sessions as detailed below:

The Regional Squad (11 - 25 yrs) consists of a small number of elite ski athletes and will be trained separately to those training for future places in the squad. Training sessions for these skiers will be notified individually and will include sessions at snow slopes as well as artificial slopes, utilising the skills of ex-racers as coach helpers. Fitness, cross-training and psychology activities are included.

Development and Minis groups. Club race coaches are encouraged to attend these training sessions and may bring with them any young skiers who are registered with the ESC, who want to race and show potential. These skiers will be trained in the Development ( 11 - 18 yrs) or Minis (7 - 13 yrs) group. The latter is a new area we want to develop. Coaches who want to discuss this should contact Roger Crombleholme or Denis Cadman. Fitness, cross-training and psychology activities are included. NOTE: please do not use the Development and Minis training sessions as an extension for club training.

Any young skiers who are interested in coming as a potential member of the Development and Minis groups should contact the Coach at their normal ski slope and ask if they can be brought along to the sessions (See the Calendar for training dates). To contact the coaches click here

Slope fees for training sessions will be paid direct to the slope. WMSA is usually able to negotiate very favourable rates.

Ends.
